About Gordon College

The Ken Olsen Science Center - from concept to reality!                 Exhibits in the Digital Loggia of Technology

Ken Olsen's impeccable personal and business ethics were based on his strong Christian values.  He chose Gordon College in Wenham MA to benefit from his participation as a Trustee from 1961-1993.

One of Ken Olsen's philanthropic commitments was to build a Science Center at Gordon College.  Gordon College held a Salute to Ken Olsen Groundbreaking Ceremony in 2006.  Ken's dream became a reality in September 2008, when the Ken Olsen Science Center was dedicated.  It is a beautiful facility with state-of-the-art equipment and educational curricula.

Dan Tymann, Gordon's VP of Development, wrote the article Ken Olsen Brings Entrepreneurial Leadership to Science - a nice tribute with a bio of Ken and his involvement with Digital and Gordon College.

In the lobby of the Ken Olsen Science Center is the Digital Loggia of Technology, a museum exhibit about Digital Equipment Corporation's history and technologies, and a kiosk where people can learn about Digital through the presentation of papers, stories submitted by employees and customers, and visual media.  Click here to see some DEC Connection photos of the Loggia of Technology taken at the Dedication.

The DEC Connection has partnered with Gordon College to sponsor events for DEC Connection members and ex-DECcies along with activities that Gordon College conducts in Ken's honor; the first DEC Connection event at Gordon College was the 2006 Salute to Ken Olsen Groundbreaking ceremony.  The second was at the 2008 Dedication of the Ken Olsen Science Center.  The DEC Connection has made three charitable contributions to support the Digital Loggia of Technology.

Gordon College's Heart of Discovery fundraising program is The Campaign for the Ken Olsen Science Center.  Phase 1 was completed with the opening and dedication; they are now in Phase 2 to add classrooms and expand their curricula. Former DEC employees, friends and colleagues of Ken Olsen can make a donation in honor of Ken Olsen. All gifts of $100 or more receive "A Salute to Ken Olsen" DVD with bonus video of the recognition day.

You can still submit personal stories about your experiences at DEC to the Gordon College Kiosk.
