I
now live in Boynton Beach and post-COVID would like to schedule a
get-together here. Please email me if interested. 6/2023. When
I lived in Delray I "inherited" a distribution list of folks who worked
in the LACR HQ in Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach. One couple,
Mitch Tunkel (R.I.P.) and Sue Murrell, owned a yacht and took us for a
couple of great boat trips on the intracoastal in Ft. Lauderdale.
I organized a few Delray reunions before attendance dwindled and
we closed up shop in 2014. Here are some photos from these
meetings. In addition, Joanne Jacobs ran reunions for DEC Alumni
members, based in Naples. This group is no longer active, and the DEC
Alumni newsletter and website has been retired by Peter Koch.
Sally Hering organized 2 get-togethers in Naples in 2016 and 2015,
shown below. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The initial 2015 get-together of the Southwest
Florida Chapter in Naples came off not quite as planned with several folks unable to
attend due to illness; thanks
to Sally Hering for organizing the dinner and to Joanne Haddad Jacobs for
sharing these pictures.

Schutzman, My-Quan Tran (R.I.P.), and Jose Chevere.
 Our
2012 Get-together was on Sunday, February 12 from 4-8 PM at Ava's
community clubhouse in Delray Beach FL. Two dozen of us enjoyed a
potluck dinner, socializing, and viewing the Ken Olsen PBS documentary,
Digital_Man/Digital_World. Special thanks as always to My-Quan Tran
for his technical expertise to project the KO movie, and for sharing
these photos. Also included is a photo sent in by Guillermo Barrera
Fierro of his new grandson who preempted his plans to join us :) -
thanks also to our attendees, not all pictured below: Jerry Bernath, Carol Bertel, Robin Blanchard,
Allan Demers, Carol Heller, Sally Hering, Nell Lagerquist, Eliane and Gary
Markoff, Charlie Moeder, Sue Murrell and Mitch Tunkel, Sheryl Pattek, Brenda
Pearce, Rick and Mary Proksell, Ava
Schutzman, Al and Roni Sorkin, My-Quan Tran, and Ron Zander. Here are a few photos from our December 2010
get-together at the Blue Martini Bar in Boca Raton. We had a special
visitor from Brazil - Herbert de Souza - who left before the photos were
taken. He is sorry to have missed many of you. Also in
attendance: Rick Proksell, Sue Murrell and Mitch Tunkel, Alan Demers,
My-Quan Tran, and Ava Schutzman. My-Quan Tran sent these photos from our get-together Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 4-6 PM at our old haunt,
The Beach Place, 17 South Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale
at Lulu's Baitshack. Ava Schutzman, Jose Chevere; My-Quan Tran, Allan Demers, Charlie Moeder
We enjoyed another FL DECconnection event, a
Pot Luck Supper at Ava's clubhouse in Delray Beach FL on Saturday, March 28,
2009, with some good company, nostalgia and great food and music (thank yous
to Jose Chevere and Elba Rios Paolino for bringing Latin music CDs, and to
My-Quan Tran for bringing all his video equipment). Robert Kutchera brought
a "Digital: Whatever it Takes" banner and our Woods Meeting used the Key
Largo Conference Room. After our pot-luck supper we enjoyed My-Quan's photos
from a 2005 LACR reunion and seeing the DVD of the Ken Olsen Science Center
Dedication DECconnection event. At least one of the former LACR folks was
featured in the "Digital 40th anniversary" video.
Our first DECconnection FL event on
Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Big City Tavern in Boca Raton was great!
About 25 attended, many who worked at the Boca Raton office which was
headquarters for the Latin America/Caribbean Region. These folks have
actually been meeting regularly since, but we combined mailing lists and got
a few new faces you can see in the photos below. Thanks to My-Quan Tran for
sending his photos, and who gets an award for sporting an original-issue
Digital LACR golf shirt.
